So Which Browser To Design For?

So we are constantly trying to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to Search Engine Optimization(SEO), and having a consistant look and feel of websites on top Web browsers.  But, what are those browsers?  Recently a medium.com contributor posted an article Think You Know the Top Web Browsers?.  It gives a very revealing look as to how we have evolved in our choice of Web Browser and it’s use.
Now most of this makes sense as most users will use the browser that is native to their operating environment (Android, IOS, OSx, etc).  Interesting note, the  Android has now surpassed Windows as the world’s number one Internet platform. With that in mind, it is easy to see what part of the reason is that Chrome is the number 1 browser being used(52%), followed by Safari(14%).  Both are the default browsers for most Mobile devices (Chrome on Android, Safari on IOS).  Microsofts Internet Explorer has fallen to 4% marketshare.
With all of this in mind, when we are developing websites we try and focus on Chrome, Safari and Firefox (7% marketshare) to judge consistant look and feel.  We are constantly looking at mobile vs. desktop and making the user experience is consistant and similar for both.  We will look into what impact your mobile presence has on SEO in a future post.

That’s all for now folks!
